Mesh projection debugging

Overview

This section describes how to use GeoRadiosity to preview and debug mesh projection.

For more debugging information, see Troubleshooting GeoRadiosity.

When loading your scene, select Load Mesh Projection Data to make additional debugging information available.

Toggle between target and detail meshes

The following Filter tab controls can be used in combination with any of the GeoRadiosity render modes and visualisation services (available on the Rendering tab).

  1. Select the Filter tab. By default, the detail meshes are displayed.

2. Select Show Target Geometry to display only meshes that are included in the radiosity computation.

3. To toggle quickly between detail and target meshes, hover over the LOD slider line and use the mouse wheel to change the displayed LOD.

4. Select Show all LODs to display both detail and target meshes together. This is useful when checking if the detail and target meshes are properly aligned.

Preview chart generation

To visualize the lightmap UV charts that were generated:

  1. On the Rendering tab, select the Chart renderer and the Chart texture renderer mode. The scene is rendered displaying the lightmap UVs that were generated by the precompute.

2. Right-click and select Toggle show targets to toggle between target and detail meshes. The image below shows the lightmap UVs generated for the meshes included in the radiosity computation.

Preview chart projection

To identify which target chart a particular detail chart is projecting onto:

  1. Right-click on a detail chart and select Select chart from the context menu. Only the selected chart is highlighted.

2. Right-click and select Toggle show targets to preview which target chart your selected chart projects onto.

You can also toggle between target and detail using the *Filter* tab options, as described above.

For more Chart renderer options, see the Chart renderer section.
